Course Description

Aims and Specific Competences:

  • studying American culture and society
  • developing cultural and intercultural awareness, understanding and tolerance
  • working on the four skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking
  • expanding vocabulary
  • encouraging and developing critical thinking

Course Content:

American culture, geography, history (colonization, independence, settlement, immigration), society (basic values, religion, ethnic diversity, politics, education, economy), culture (film, music, television), sport.

Grading:

The final mark is comprised of the following: test, written assignment and oral presentation.

Grading scale of 6-10 (pass) and 1-5 (fail), in accordance with the Statutes of the University of Ljubljana and with the examination system of the Faculty of Arts.
