Course Description

Language and language media as  semiotic systems. The history of linguistics from pre-Socratic rhetoricians to the 20th century structuralists. Levels of linguistic analysis: phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics. Language and mind. Language and social stratification. Linguistic terminology in Slovene and in English.
