Course Description

The students are divided into two groups with regard to the topic of their MA thesis:

  • Linguistics
  • Literary Studies

The seminar focusses on:

  • research work in linguistics and literary studies (types, theoretical framework, and methods of research);
  • theoretical models and their role in understanding and explaining linguistic and literary phenomena;
  • theoretical framework, methods, results;
  • research project (identifying the research problem(s) and goals; critical review of the relevant literature; the choice of theoretical and methodological framework; qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods approaches);
  • data collection and analysis: (corpora, sampling, general strategies and methods of statistical analysis, etc);
  • interpretation and assessment of research results, discussion.
