About the Department
The English Department is a unit of the Faculty of Arts; here students can study English Language and Literature, both as a pedagogic or non-pedagogic subject.
The Old Study Programmes enable the graduates to teach English Language and Literature at the primary and secondary levels of education, as well as to work in various forms of interlingual and intercultural communications and mediations required for different cultural and economic activities.
The New 1st Level Programmes (single subject and double-subject study programmes) provide for intensive three-year fundamental studies in the English language, in cultures and literatures of English-speaking communities, as well as in intercultural English communication abilities required for various activities involving interlingual and intercultural communication. In addition, graduates are qualified to continue their studies, i.e. to further develop their knowledge at the 2nd level of study, where they can enrol in the new pedagogic or non-pedagogic programmes.
